In March 2025, we took our first big step as a nonprofit. After many thoughtful meetings and discussions, our high school student founders decided to launch our very first fundraising event: an International Food Sale. Our goal was to help children with chronic diseases and to empower them to live active, joyful lives through awareness and community support.
We believe every child, no matter their medical challenges, deserves the chance to move freely, to play, and to thrive. Through our work, we hope to provide resources and equipment so that each child can grow stronger, more confident, and more hopeful about their future.
For our first event, we chose to hand-make zongzi, a traditional Chinese food enjoyed during the Dragon Boat Festival, which symbolizes love, care, and togetherness. With the help of our volunteers, we wrapped, steamed, and sold more than 200 zongzi in three different flavors, raising $1,000 to support children living with chronic illnesses.
Seeing people come together was incredibly heartwarming and meaningful to us. Our initiative wasn’t just about food or fundraising; it was about connection, kindness, and hope. The success of this event gave us the confidence to dream even bigger. We are now planning a series of international food sales featuring dishes from around the world.
